Music has always been a very important part of my life. I have been excited to learn how music, especially classical music, can increase brain development. There has been a lot of research done, and I am sure many of you have heard of "The Mozart Effect". I have suggested some wonderful books in the resource list below that I recommend as essential reading for every parent. For each lesson I recommend
listening to the selection daily with your baby. I find that feeding
times work well, the music can be playing in the background. Some
of the selections will also work well as lullabies and can be played at
bedtime. Many of the Mozart selections are from the The Mozart
Effect Music for Children CDs, Volumes 1, 2, & 3. The final
selection, Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5, is a lively piece to celebrate
the year of music you have shared with your baby. I hope you will
enjoy this musical experience.
