Language Arts

The sound this week is the long vowel combination /oo/ as in zoo.
Emphasize the /oo/ sound often throughout the day.  Have your child repeat the sound with you.

Put up your sound wall poster.

Day 3:  Practice writing the long vowel combination "oo" on one line of handwriting paper.

Day 4:  Practice writing the word "kangaroo" one or two times.

Day 5:  Practice writing any of the other theme words one or two times.
 

Activities and/or Art Projects

Heart Kangaroo Paper Craft  - they say it is for Valentine's Day, but you could do this any time of year.

Make a kangaroo puppet.  You would just use a brown lunch bag and add ears, tail, eyes, nose, etc.. to the bag till it looked like a kangaroo.  You can cut a slit for a pouch in the front and have a baby kangaroo peeking through.

Go to the zoo and look for the kangaroo!
