Weekly Schedule

This is just an example of how you could schedule your week to cover all the ideas in the Sound of the Week Curriculum.  Feel free to adapt it for your child.

  • Read 1 or 2 books related to the theme.
  • Sing a song or recite a poem related to the theme.
  • Complete the handwriting assignment for Day 1.
  • Emphasize the sound for the week as often as you can.

~Tuesday~

  • Review the Sound Wall Poster with your child.
  • Read 1 or 2 more books related to the theme.
  • Sing a song or recite a poem related to the theme.
  • Complete the handwriting assignment for Day 2.
  • Emphasize the sound for the week as often as you can.

~Wednesday~

  • Review the Sound Wall Poster with your child.
  • Do an activity or art project related to the theme.
  • Sing a song or recite a poem related to the theme.
  • Complete the handwriting assignment for Day 3.
  • Emphasize the sound for the week as often as you can.

~Thursday~

  • Review the Sound Wall Poster with your child.
  • Do another activity or art project related to the theme.
  • Sing a song or recite a poem related to the theme.
  • Complete the handwriting assignment for Day 4.
  • Emphasize the sound for the week as often as you can.

~Friday~

  • Review the Sound Wall Poster with your child.
  • Discuss the "other" theme words found on the poster.
  • Sing a song, recite a poem, or read a book related to one or more of these other theme words.  The selection can also just fit the sound for the week, and may not have a theme word.
  • Complete the handwriting assignment for Day 5.
  • Emphasize the sound for the week as often as you can.
