What to do
in Week One
(Just a suggestion)
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
Proverbs 16:18-19
"18. Pride
goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
"19. Better
it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil
with the proud."
Monday's Child
Monday's
child is fair of face,
Tuesday's
child is full of grace,
Wednesday's
child is full of woe,
Thursday's
child has far to go.
Friday's
child is loving and giving,
Saturday's
child works hard for a living.
But
the child that is born on the Sabbath day,
Is
blithe and bonny, good and gay.
Explaining: (at dressing time) After we put on your coat and shoes we will go outside.
Cars Go Down!
For this game you will need some toy cars and a ramp of some sort. You can make the ramp with a board, or a couch cushion, or a tall book. Watch the toy cars race down the ramp. Never leave your child unsupervised with toy cars that have tiny wheels and are not recommended for children under 3.
Pachelbel: Canon in D Major
The Muffin Man
(For learning French -- you can substitute with choices of your own in a different language.)
Part
One: Learn a song in French -- Fais dodo
Part
Two: French Vocabulary -- le livre (book)
Optional: Choose an exercise from an exercise book to use with your toddler daily.
Arts and Crafts
The
art lessons will begin at Lesson 11. Until then just introduce your
toddler to jumbo crayons and paper. Scribble away!

My World (a companion to Goodnight Moon)by Margaret Wise Brown
Proverbs 16:18-19
"18. Pride
goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
"19. Better
it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil
with the proud."
"Swing Song" from Now We are Six by A. A. Milne
Suggestion: Teach the sign for FISH.
(Depending on the season of the year you can rearrange these suggestions to work for you -- see the outdoor games link above.)
Sleigh Ride -- this would have to be done in the winter with snow. Using a baby sleigh and wrapping your toddler up warmly, enjoy pulling your toddler in the snow. Stop and take notice of nature around you.
If you don't have snow where you live, just take many walks with a stroller.
Round Dance -- this dance was discovered by our oldest son when he was a toddler. We put on a Chopin waltz (Waltz in E flat major Op. 18, No. 1) and he would run in circles in our livingroom. With other music he would dance differently, but everytime we put on this music he would start to run round and round. You can try the same music, or discover some music of your own, that will encourage your toddler to dance around. Be careful to not get dizzy!
Dorme (Brazilian) from the Brazilian Lullaby CD
Foot Puppets -- this is a fun alternative to always using your hands to move puppets. Create puppets out of socks and place on your feet, your toddler's feet, too. Lay on your back and watch your puppets move.
Choose from the list of suggestions according to the current season.
