Indoor Games

Block Towers

For this game you will need a set of blocks.  They can be alphabet wooden blocks, plastic blocks or even soft blocks.  Show your toddler how to stack a tower 2 blocks high.  When this is accomplished show how to build a tower 3 blocks high, then 4 blocks high and so on.  Build as long as you would like!

Outdoor Games

(Depending on the season of the year you can rearrange these suggestions to work for you -- see the outdoor games link above.)

Wind Play -- take a streamer outside and watch it blow in the wind.  If the wind is not blowing you could run with the streamer flowing out behind you.  Wave the streamers through the air.  You may also like to show your toddler a wind chime.  Play with your pinwheels again.

Musical Exploration

Musical Toys -- these are the electronic musical toys that most children usually have or get as gifts.  Get out all your musical toys and explore the different sounds.  Clap along or dance with your toddler.

Lullaby

Puppetry

Sock Puppets -- make a new puppet for your toddler from a clean sock.  You could make a "Wise Old Owl" puppet to go with the nursery rhyme.  You can let your toddler know that this owl is a quiet puppet.  When you bring out the Owl puppet it is time to be quiet.
